I love to read, I will even read two or three books at a time. I love finding great new books to read and sharing my personal favorites. I thought I would start a book of the month post to share my love of reading. I figure this would be a good Sunday afternoon post … since it's my favorite time to relax and cuddle up with a book.(I realize today isn't Sunday but after this weeks post it will be put up on Sundays) A couple weeks back I picked up a couple books from the clearance section at Barnes and Nobles my current read is from this trip and is titled Drop Dead Beautiful written by Jackie Collins. This is my first Jackie Collins book but I know she is a very popular author so I am expecting this to be a light fun read. The book was published in July of 2007 so it isn't a new book but I still cant wait to start reading it I will keep you updated as go along. This first post I will share the synopsis from the book cover.
Book of the month by jenniferrbates on polyvore.com
"From Miami to Beverly Hills, from Mexico City to Acapulco to Las Vegas, dynamically sexy Lucky Santangelo and her sweet-as-sin daughter, Max, are turning up the heat. And so is Anthony Bonar, the illegitimate son of her ontime godfather and lethal enemy, Enzio Bonnatti. Lucky is preparing for the opening of her multibillion-dollar hotel complex in Las Vegas, the Keys, but Bonar- a vicious killer - is out to stop her anyway he can.
Meanwhile, Sixteen-year-old Max has run off to Big Bear to hook up with a man she's been corresponding with on the internet. But instead of the man she thought she was meeting, he turns out to be a vengeful predator with a long-standing grudge against Lucky and Billy Melina, the twenty-eight-year-old studly movie star who is currently the boyfriend of Lucky's best friend, Venus.
Get ready for a nonstop thrill ride as lucky goes for broke to build her dream resort - and faces down a deadly threat to all she holds dear. Max, too, is following her dreams, and as her high-flying triumphs prove, she's more than just a little Lucky. "

A couple of days ago I decided to stop by my nearest Charming Charlie's to pick up some jewelry. Charming Charlies is a great retail chain that has a huge selection of jewelry with every trend you could ever want, they also have some really adorable clothes that are more in the boutique price range. I have been wanting to get some new statement necklaces but just have not wanted to fork over a hundred dollars for one necklace. In order to suffice my want for some new jewelry I picked up some inexpensive items. I thought I would just post some pictures of all the goodies below. Some didn't have names but I will put the price and the name if it was provided.

NuMe Flat Iron
I have used the Chi brand straighter for about 6 or 7 years now and have gone through three of them. My most recent one I have had for almost 2 years and lately it has been on the fritz of breaking so I decided it was time to get a new straightener . Although I loved my Chi I wanted to try something new. I feel the world of Hair tools has vastly improved since I first started using the Chi and what better time to branch out than the present. After doing some research I found a couple other brands I was interested in including GHD, NuMe, and Paul Mitchell.

I decided to try out the NuMe when I found a coupon for 130 off for only 30 dollars. I thought this was a good deal and after it was all said and done I paid about 60 dollars for the straightner. I figured if I didn’t like it at least it wasn’t expensive. I have used my NuMe for about 3 weeks now and I am very pleased with the product. I pretty much straighten my hair every day. This easily straightens and I feel my hair has taken less time to straighten then when I used my Chi. I also like that you can change the heat setting if you don’t need the highest setting. Unlike the Chi that only had an on/off switch. The one thing that I have noticed is it takes longer to heat up than the Chi. In all I think it is pretty good tool and definitely worth it if you can get it on sale. You can purchase NuMe products here.

Lancome Hypnose Mascara and Undereye Concealer
A couple weeks ago I told y'all about a gift with purchase for Lancome at Dillards. I received my order so fast, literally with in three days.I ordered two things along with receiving the free gift.
1. La Base Pro – A perfecting makeup primer with a smoothing effect and oil free. I have used this pretty much everyday since I got it. I was getting tired of using my other primer so this was a nice switch in my routine. Its a good primer although I don't see anything that makes it stand out against others.
2. Star Bronzer Natural Glow in shade 01 Lumiere - This is great to take when traveling since its the perfect mini size. The color is nice although I usually prefer a matte bronzer and this has some gold shimmer in it. I do think the gold shimmer is nice for a summer time glow.
3. Color Design Lipstick in "It" Girl sheen - I have not used this yet but the color seems to be a nice peachy pink shimmer and could be a good light everyday color.
4. Bright Expert Dark Spot Corrector and Radiance Activator- For all skin types, instructions say to apply to entire face AM and PM under your regular moisturizer. I have used this everyday twice a day since it arrived and I can already see the difference in my skin. It has really reduced the appearance of my skins acne scarring and I will be most definitely buying this product full size.
5. Genifique Eye Youth Activating Eye Concentrate- For all skin types, instructions say to pat daily morning and night over brow bone and under eyes. I seem to have a few eye creams in my cabinet so I have only tested this out a couple times. I do notice a slight decrease in my dark circles when I use this and would probably work really well with consistent use.
A couple weeks ago I told y'all about a gift with purchase for Lancome at Dillards. I received my order so fast, literally with in three days.I ordered two things along with receiving the free gift.

1. The Effacernes Waterproof Protective Under Eye Concealer – this concealer comes in a .52 oz squeeze tube and Lancome describes it as a long wearing, crease resistant, hydrating, and a soft matte finish. I think this concealer works really well. It offers good coverage with out looking to cakie. It goes on smoothly and can be built up from a sheer coverage to a heavier one. I have worn it for about a week and a half and can attest to the staying power. I use under eye concealer everyday and don’t think I could live without it. The only problem with this product is the price at. I think there are other concealers that could give just as good a coverage for a cheaper price.
2. Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara – This mascara contains .22 oz of product and claims to give volumized extended and lifted lashes. First I will say I have never tried a Lancome mascara before so I was extremely excited to try one out, I decided to get the Hypnose Doll Lashes because the tapered brush intrigued me. I felt it could really help get into the small inner and out corners. This mascara is very lengthening but I find it isn’t very volumizing at all. This made me a little disappointed because I am often a two types of mascara kind of gal and had high hopes this one would do it all. I do think this is still a great mascara for lengthening, making my already long lashes really stick out. The price is a bit expensive but if you like that look it is worth the money.
The Gift with purchase came with six items including an adorable blue and green bag that is great for summer make up storage. I chose these products out of several different options. I haven’t had a chance to really test out these products yet but I will keep you posted on the ones that impress me.

Estee Lauder
I recently went on a little bit of a make-up and skin care spree. I decided to invest in some high end makeup since they had a gift with purchase. Nordstrom's had a special gift with an Estée Lauder purchase. I have been wanting to try the Double Wear Maximum Cover foundation for a while now so I thought it would be the perfect time to. I purchased two products in order to reach the total to get the free gift.
2. Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body- Contains and SPF 15 in a 1 oz squeeze bottle. I chose color 03 creamy vanilla, Estee lauder describes this foundation as having 12 hr staying power and a natural liquid crème consistency to cover any and all skin imperfections. I have been wanting to try this foundation forever, I love full coverage foundations and have heard great things about this one. I can say that so far all the hype is true, this foundation has been around forever and you cant go wrong with a tried and true. It gives great coverage without feeling like I have on a pound of foundation. This is definitely a product to try if you have spots and discoloration you want to hide but hate the feel of full coverage foundation.
The gift with this purchase was amazing I think it made my purchases well worth the price. I have only tried a couple of these products so I will write what I think of those below.
5. Advanced Night Repair - Claims to reduce signs of aging and give more radiant skin.
6. Pure Color Gloss in 47 Peach Sizzle Shimmer and Pure Color Crystal Lipstick Ripe Papaya Crystal Shimmer.

1. Double Wear Stay in Place Gel Eyeliner – I purchased this in color 01 stay onyx with .1oz of product. This is described as having a 15 hr staying power. This really does work amazingly, glides on smoothly to create a precise line or can be smudged out to give a softer look. As for staying power im not sure if it last 15 hours but I can say that it lasted my whole work day without budging so about 10 hours.
The gift with this purchase was amazing I think it made my purchases well worth the price. I have only tried a couple of these products so I will write what I think of those below.
1. Timezone Line & Wrinke Reducing Crème- Contains an SPF 15 and is for normal to combination skin. Directions say to apply all over face AM and PM after your serum. I have not seen a huge affect on my skin but it does smell wonderful.
2. Soft Clean Start Tender Crème Cleanser – This is a cream cleanser for dry skin, describe as gentle yet effective cleansing. I dont see this working for me, having oily comination skin it leaves my skin feeling dirtier than before. I could see this working on someone with really sensitive dry skin.
3. Pur color eyeshadow & eyeshadow duo - This makes a great travel companion. It has a good range of colors with quality pigment to create several different looks. I also liked that this came instruction cards on creating two different looks with the colors in the pallete. It's a slim case with a huge mirror.
4. Sumptuous Bold Volume – Lifting Mascara in 01 black. This came in small travel/mini size. This is by far my favorite thing that came with this set. It has to be the best mascara I have found in a while. I love my lashes to be full and lengthy, usually creating this look by applying several coates of mulitple types of mascara. This gave me the look I love in one mascara and only two coats! I will be absolutely buying a full size tube.
6. Pure Color Gloss in 47 Peach Sizzle Shimmer and Pure Color Crystal Lipstick Ripe Papaya Crystal Shimmer.
Left row: single shades -Twinkle Pink Metallic 55,Hot Cinnamon Shimmer 35, Lavish Mink Matte 45.
Duo shades from top- 07 Wave, 05 Khakis, 12 Raisins.

Splurge or Steal
I have been wanting to get my hands on this Jcrew Bubble necklace for a while now. I probably look at it online once a week but I havent been able to justify spending 150 on this one necklace right now. Then the other day while browsing PreeBrulee I found these almost identical necklaces. I was so excited I ordered both of them! Which do you like better the splurge or steal?
In about a month and a half I will be sitting beach side in the keys and I cant wait. Yes thats right its almost summer vacation time. Im just so excited that even these amazingly bright nail polishes are making me think of my tropical vacation. Im all for these bright fun colors and plan on sporting them through my week long vacation. What do you think of this trend? Going anywhere fun this summer? I'd love to hear about it!
In
a short couple of months I will be moving, currently I am living with
my mother and high school aged brother. When I graduated college this
past August I decided the smart thing would be to move home and save up
some money. Well now the time has come to move into my first place and I
am beyond excited.
Lately
all I can think about is decorating my future abode. I thought I would
share some inspiration for the new place on here! Below is how I am
picturing the living room. I will be living with my boyfriend so I
promised him I would make sure to keep it somewhat masculine, what do
you think? Xen Tan
With summer approaching I find myself desperately needing a tan. Shorts and tank tops always look better with a golden glow. We didn’t have much of a winter here in Texas this year so I already feel I'm behind on the bronzed skin. Last week I gave in and decided to try out a new self tanner. I bought Xen –Tan Luxe Daily Self Tan at Ulta for $30. There were several self tanners offered by this brand but I decided to choose this particular one for two reasons
1. I figure I should slowly get back into using self tanner since it has probably been a year since I used one and a gradual self tanner seemed the best way to do this.
2. It was about 10 dollars cheaper than the weekly self tanner and I was on a budget.
I have used this product for about a week and a half now so I think I can give an honest review of it. It is a white lotion that gets darker over several hours. The directions say to be careful of transfer on to light clothing so I like to put this on before I go to bed to avoid messing up any of my clothes. It doesn’t smell horrible but I will say that it has a strong "tropical" smell, you know that coconut tanning lotion smell. The first time I used this it left me a bit streaky although I say this was probably more do to operator error. Be sure to exfoliate before hand and put a good even coat over you whole body. The color is more on the olive toned so I feel it helps avoid an orange tint. Overall I feel this is a pretty good self tanner and after getting back into the swing of using one I think will re – purchase once I am out to keep my bronze skin all throughout summer. Clarisonic
The clarisonic is pretty much a cult product that I am sure everyone has read many reviews over. With this being said I still want to give my opinion on this product. I bought the clarisonic back in November from QVC. I have wanted to purchase the clarisonic for quite some time reading many articles and blog posts on the amazingness of the tool. For me it was all about trying to clear up my skin, I have oily skin most of the time. I am very prone to breaking out and seeing that I am 22 I really want to get it more under control. I thought that the clarisonic would help with this by cleaning my skin of every impurity and stitch of makeup off my face every day.
Now I must say that while I do like the clarisonic and have seen improvement in the texture of my skin it has not really helped improve my breakouts. My skin is much softer now and absorbs moisturizers much better and I could tell the difference with this almost instantly. On the other hand my face still breaks out just as much as it did before and I know what your thinking yes but it has a "purging" stage where you will get some bumps here and there as the impurities in your face make their way out….. well I can say that I definitely went through this stage and was miserable I had so many spots pop up I almost gave up on the clarisonic, but I resisted and kept using it.
Over all I would say that this is a pretty good tool and I do feel like my skin is in much better shape than it was before. I am still working on other aspects of my cleansing routine and maybe I will find the perfect combination of products and tools that will help combat those nasty spots that pop up. I will keep you all updated as I figure out what works and what doesn’t. You can buy the Clarisonic in different version at several stores including Ulta, QVC, and Sephora. Do y'all have any rave worthy skin care products that are worth a try?

Have you ever noticed when someone's hands don’t match their age… you know what I'm talking about those hands that look they belong to an 80 year old but really belong to someone much younger. This is something I always dread having but often my hands are something I neglect, never paying attention to keeping them properly moisturized but lately I have noticed that my hands have been feeling extra dry and tight. I blame this on the freezing temperature in my office. This being said I have checked out a few new hand creams lately and have picked two that I think are pretty good.
Philosophy : Hands of Hope
Formulation – Cream; Thick
Scent – Unscented
Price - $10
Opinion – This one happens to be my favorite out of the two. I like the thicker formula and the fact that it honestly doesn’t smell like anything. Leaves my hands feeling quenched without any greasiness
EOS : Hand lotion
Formulation – Runnier; lotion
Scent – Original, has a very light fresh smell to it.
Price - $3.50
Opinion – I liked this one because the smell was great and not overpowering. The formulation is lighter but still keeps your hands moisturized, so if you don’t need an intense cream then is what I would recommend.
Overall : For my needs I feel the Hands of Hope works best but the EOS lotion is a close second.
You can pick up both of these at Ulta and many other stores.

I have never used Deborah Lippmann nail Polishes before. I always longed to try her fun sounding shades all named after songs but just couldn’t justify spending so much on nail color. The other day I was browsing around the internet and found two sets of Lippmann polishes on sale from HSN.
The set was marked down to 16 each from 32 dollars they contained 2 full size polishes and I knew this would be a great chance to try them out at a steal. I have to say that I am a huge fan now, they go on so smoothly and have incredible shine to them. The width of the brush made it easy to flawlessly paint my nails.
The colors I bought were Let's hear it for the boy and Dancing in the sheets as well as Almost paradise and Footloose . These are still on sale as well as a couple of other sets . I am loving footloose and dancing in the sheets. I highly recommend checking out her collections – you can find them in high-end department stores as well as her online site and of course HSN.

Footloose – described as a orange- red.
Almost Paradise – pale chartreuse
Let's Hear it for the Boy – creamy powder blue
Dancing in the Sheets – deep purple shimmer – I think this looks more deep blue with a purple iridescence shimmer
