Wednesday, November 26, 2014Mini Pumpkin Pecan Pies
Every year my work puts on a pot luck, this is usually when I like to test out new recipes. Co-workers tend to be a good choice if you want an honest opinion of the food you made. This year I decided to try out this recipe for mini pumpkin pecan pies (from Sunny Anderson of Food Network fame). The recipe is super simple, festive and fun. They are perfect for Thanksgiving and are even a suitable dessert for Christmas!
These are so easy to make you can whip up a batch in about 35 minutes! The crust is soft and crumbles in your mouth while the pumpkin filling adds the perfect amount of gooeyness! I will most definitely be baking another batch for Christmas.
What is your go to dessert recipe? I'd love to hear about them in the comments!
Recipe from Sunny Anderson.
Spray the bottoms and sides of the mini muffin tins with cooking spray.
For the dough: In a food processor, pulse pecans with the sugar, salt, and flour, until the nuts are ground and the ingredients are combined. Add in butter and pulse until dough resembles coarse meal. Slowly pour in ice water through the feed tube, pulsing, until the dough comes together. Remove from processor bowl onto clean work surface sprinkled with flour.
Form dough into a ball and divide evenly into 24 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and evenly press into each cup, until the bottom is covered. If the dough is sticky, dip your finger in flour first.
Bake 15 to 18 minutes, until the crusts are very golden. Check periodically to make sure they don't get too brown.
Meanwhile, make the filling: In a medium bowl, whisk the egg and yolk with the corn syrup, sugar, pumpkin filling and vanilla. Stir in the chopped pecans.
Remove dough from oven and spoon 1 tablespoon of the filling into each cup. Top each with 1 pretty pecan half. Return the pans to the oven and continue baking, for 12 to 15 minutes more, until the pumpkin filling is set. Allow to cool before removing from the pans.

The Houston Nutcracker MarketThe holidays have always been a favorite time of year for me and last year my mom and I started the new tradition of going to the Nutcracker Market. The Houston Nutcracker Market benefits the Houston Ballet, a certain percentage of the vendors profits will go to the Houston Ballet. The event has been going on for almost 40 years! Up until last year we had never been and we had such a blast we knew it would be a new Christmas tradition. I thought I would share a few photos I snapped during this years market. Keep reading if you want to see more!
(I'm wearing this top and its on sale! and this affordable faux fur vest.)
There is such a wide range of vendors at the market you will be sure to find gifts for everyone on your list young and old!
We always start the shopping by getting a mimosa from one of the bars stationed through out the arena. This year your drink came in these cute commemorative hard plastic cups.
These spoons would be perfect for mixing up your coffee, tea or if you are like me hot chocolate! Adorable!

These cinnamon sticks were such a cute idea but I would never spend $20 bucks on it! Ill have to make a bundle of my own!

Wholly Amethysts!

What I would give for a piece like this! They always have some really beautiful ones with some being almost as tall as me! To die!

What are your holiday traditions!? I would love to hear them in the comments!

I have to apologize for my lack of recent posts, I am starting a new job at work and my replacement for my old job still hasn't started yet. Of course this leaves me to keep up with responsibilites for both positions. As you can imagine I have been a bit short on extra time the last couple of weeks. I promise to get back to my normal schedule though!Yesterday I spent the day shopping at the Houston Nutcracker Market with my mom. It was lots of fun getting into the christmas spirit. I took a few photos and plan on sharing everything with you all soon! Have a great weekend!
I am a sucker for a good documentary so i was excited to see this list Emily over at Cupcakes and Cashmere published this week.
This little mask sampler from Sephora is on my christmas list!
21 Hacks for fixing ruined clothes. I have probably encountered all of these issues at least once before, now I know how to fix them!
Was Vincent Van Gogh really murdered? I have always loved the art he created and this was an interesting read on the possibility of his death being from murder and no suicide.
I have always loved a good chicken pot pie and honestly haven't had one in a while that with this colder weather it has been all I can think about. This recipe looks like a warm and filling heaven for my stomach.

Bare Mineral BareSkin Foundation
Years ago when BareMinerals first became popular I was a huge fan of their mineral makeup. As I got older I ventured into other products and foundation formulations and never really went back to Bare Minerals. I found that I really preferred using a liquid foundation over the loose powder. When I heard that BareMinerals was launching a liquid foundation I just couldn't wait to try it out! The hype for this product was huge! You couldn't open a magazine or watch TV without seeing or hearing about it. Over the months since its release I heard a wide array of reviews from good to bad and finally caved and purchased it when I saw it on QVC in this set.

Lately I have been more and more concerned with upping my brow game. For years I went au natural and never used any products in my brows. The older I have gotten the more I notice my eyebrows have thinned out a little bit and I also think the fact that big brows have been so popular attributes to this new obsession.
