Around the web

Around the Web

This weekend marks the start of one of my favorite times of year here in Houston... It's Rodeo season! Im not at all a country/rodeo/cowgirl type of person gal but I do like some country music and going to the concerts is always a blast! This weekend is the championship BBQ cook-off and I will be drinking and enjoying some world class BBQ. What will you be up to this weekend?! If you are in the Houston area I highly suggest you check out the cook off!

Nail Of The Day

Deborah Lippmann Sunshine Superman

I felt like getting a little glittery with my nails this week, finally testing out this shade from Deborah Lippmann's Big Bang collection. You may remember me posting about it HERE. This is an orange golden shimmer polish. It applies easily, I had no issues with patchiness and it went pretty opaque in two coats. I'm wearing two coats in this picture if you wanted a more intense coverage another coat could be used. Definitely not a color that I would reach for all the time but it's bringing some sunshine to my nails during this gloomy weather we are having here in Houston.

Oscars 2015 Beauty and Fashion

Oscars 2015 Beauty and Fashion

NPH put on an entertaining Oscars last night, they have been doing a much better job in the past few years of picking hosts that really make the show worth watching. The other reason to watch the Oscars? The fashion and beauty all the lovely ladies wear of course! I rounded up my favorite looks from the awards show and after party. Enjoy!

Red Carpet Fashion

There was a whole lot of stunning gowns on the red carpet this year! It really seemed like Red was the color of choice too and we saw a lot of high slits and low cuts.

Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent

Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad Couture
 Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent
 Emma Stone in Elie Saab
Rosamund Pike in Givenchy Couture

Diane Kruger in Donna Karan Atelier

Brittany Snow in Blumarine

Lupita Nyongo in Calvin Klein

Beauty

All of these women are beautiful with or without makeup but their makeup artists really hit it out of the park with these looks.

Hands down my favorite look was from Margot Robbie, from head to toe her look was sensational! I also am pretty obsessed with Brittany Snow's dress from the Vanity Fair after party. Who was your favorite? I would love to hear from you in the comments.

The total value for this box was $105  and as usual the box only ran me $21. I seriously don't know how they do it but this box is such a bargain.

Around The Web

Around The Web

Last Sunday was spent searching for a new mattress set. The one we have is on its last leg and honestly we didn't realize just how bad it was until we tested out so many incredibly comfy beds. We won't get our new bed still for a couple of weeks and every night when we go to bed I feel more and more uncomfortable and tired the next day. Its eye opening how much you depend on a good nights sleep! Anyhow, thank goodness for the weekend and I hope you enjoy this weeks links!

Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil

Josie Maran

Josie Maran is one of my favorite skin care brands, she has the most incredible argan oils and body butters (totally worth checking out if you haven't already). I decided why not branch out into her cosmetics?! I picked up this infinity tinted creamy oil that can be used on lips and cheeks. its meant to be hydrating and nourishing on the skin while giving healthy glow and color.

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper

Brow Gel Mascara

Quality brow products used to be something reserved for high end brands but recently all kinds of new products have been coming out from drugstore brands. I did a post on the Maybelline Brow Drama a couple of months back and when L’Oreal’s came out with the Brow Stylist Plumper I knew I would have to test it out as well.

Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Bronzer is a must in my make up routine. I use it to add warmth, dimension and a little contour to my face. The bronzer I have been using for the past year recently hit pan and it was time to pick up a new one. I decided why not try something new?! I have always heard good things about the Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer and I knew it would be exactly what I needed since the color is a perfect neutral matte brown.

I picked up the original formula which is a deep matte bronzer but Too Faced also came out with the Milk Chocolate Soleil which is a lighter matte bronze shade. They use real cocoa powder and every time you open the compact you get a whiff of delicious chocolate (YUMM). Do not worry though the scent doesn't linger on the skin.

Like I said this a matte bronzer, I prefer matte shades so I can use it to contour my face. I also have large pores and scarring from having a really bad case of chicken pox as a child. A shimmer bronzer would only enhance these problem areas which is another reason I tend to stick to mattes.
I'm really loving this bronzer! Its highly pigmented and blends out like a dream. It wont leave your skin looking muddy or orange which can be an issue with a lot of matte bronzers. You can use a light dusting of this bronzer all over for a summer glow or build it up and really sculpt out your cheek bones.

Too Faced really nailed it with this product and if you are a bronzer lover I think this will be one to try! You can find this bronzer any where Too Faced is sold, retail is $30. What's your favorite bronzer? Let me know it the comments!

My last bronzer purchase.

Updated Skin Care Routine

Morning and Evening Skincare

This year I made a commitment to myself to take better care of my skin. For a while I fell of from my skincare routine and I really started to notice the toll it was taking on the appearance and texture of my skin. To be honest I just got lazy, I would still cleanse and moisturize but that was about all I was doing. Since deciding to up my routine I thought now would be the perfect time to share what I am currently using.

Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser

For years I have been a fan of drugstore concealers. They just carry so many wonderful option I often don't feel the need to try too many high end brands. Right now I feel like Maybelline has been killing it in this area. I love the Fit Me Concealer and I have heard a lot of great reviews for the new Studio Master Concealer. I also have seen this Age Rewind Concealer all over beauty blogs and videos so when I ran out of my Fit Me concealer I figured why not give this one a try.

Oh my am I glad I did! This is a great concealer I feel like I might like more than my beloved Fit Me. It applies and blends quite smoothly and has wonderful coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. The coverage is higher in this concealer than the fit me and really covers dark circles well as well as covers blemishes quite nicely.

The only thing I don't love about this is the packaging. While I don't mind the click up dispenser its just really not the most hygienic to have a sponge that you can't really wash be your application tool.
Have you tried this concealer before? What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment below!

Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette

Morphe Brushes

One of my all time favorite YouTube beauty gurus is Jaclyn Hill. She has such a fun loving personality and does amazing make up tutorials. I always trust any of her beauty picks and lately she has been singing the praises of the company Morphe Brushes and their inexpensive eyeshadows and brushes. Then right before the new year she announced a collaboration with Morphe where they created a pallete of 28 incredibly beautiful shadows.

This was on limited sale in January but I still wanted to share it with you all because they will be bringing it back this month. Im not sure of the exact date but be sure to follow Jaclyn and Morphe on their social media sights to be notified.

Row 1
Row 2
I have been using this palette everyday since it arrived a couple weeks ago. The shadow ranges allow you to create an endless range of looks. I have to say that I typically stray away from these warm toned shadows but have been finding that they are extremely flattering. Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to discover something wonderful.
Row 3

Row 4

These shadows are soft and so SO buttery smooth. All of the shades are immensely pigmented which is hard to find in a palette like this. While it literally took me a full day to try and get this palette ordered (they had some serious IT issues) in the end it was completely worth it. They do sell each shadow individually for $2 a piece and the whole palette will run you $28.

Are you fan of Jaclyn? Check her channel out HERE. And Check Morphe Brushes out HERE.

January Boxycharm

Boxycharm

Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription box that is $21 a month. Each month you receive high-end full size beauty items right on your doorstep. I had seen Boxycharm on some of my favorite YouTube channels for a while now and each month they continuously impressed me with the high end full size products that were in the box. Some brands that are recognizable along with products I have never heard of before. I finally gave in and signed up for the January box after seeing it contained this Tarte maracuja bronzing serum a $47 dollar value which is more than twice the price of the box.

Contents of the January Box

Beauty For Real The Perfect Pencil - Full Size $14

Beauty for Real True Color Lip Cream in Always There- Full Size $22

Mirabella Face Prime - Full Size $29

Pur-lisse Skin Sparkle Flash Tatoos - $12

Tarte Maracuja Bronzing Serum - Full Size $47

The total value for this box is $124. Since I signed up so late in January this box arrived this past week but I should be getting my February box soon and will be sharing it as well. I have high hopes for this subscription and will keep you all posted on my thoughts.

Ceramide Herbal Eye Cream

Mario Badescu

I always go through phases of using and not using eye creams. I know I should really use one every day but half the time I just don't think about it. Lately though I really saw the texture and tone of my under eye becoming dull and dry so I knew it was time to pick something up. Before I buy anything I always do a little "background checking" on the product. I want to make sure I'm getting something that will work for my skin type and issues.

I saw that this eye cream had good reviews and was meant to help with the look of dry and tired eyes. Exactly what I was looking for. I pretty much use this day and night and have seen a complete transformation of the delicate under eye skin. The formula is light and non-greasy, it quickly is absorbed into the skin but leaves it feeling hydrated. I don't have a lot of wrinkles and lines but I did notice that the few I have were less prominent after adding this eye cream into my skin care routine.
I have no problems wearing make-up over this eye cream. It acts as a smooth base for any concealer I may be using.

A good eye cream usually comes with a hefty price tag but this one is priced pretty well. You  get a half an oz. for 18 dollars. Its not drugstore priced but its definitely not super expensive either. You only need a small amount to pat under your eye meaning this jar will last for a while. Mine is going 3 months strong and I still have a good amount left.

I have only tried out one other Mario Badescu product and loved that one too ( I reviewed it years ago here). Have you ever tried this eye cream? what did you think? recommend any other products? leave me a comment!

The Micro Pedi

Callus Remover by Emjoi.

This is probably more of a random beauty product review but I had to share it with you all because it has become my new best friend. I'm not one to go get a pedicure at the nail salon because I have to admit my feet are horribly ticklish and I always have the hardest time sitting through the whole thing.

That's where this Micro-Pedi from Emjoi comes into place. Guys seriously this is the best purchase in a long time. Its a callus remover that is battery operated, all you do is turn on the device and hold against any rough and dry calluses on your feet. You will see all of the dead skin being removed right before your eyes. Emjoi offers a few different roller options for everyone's needs. The one I have been loving is the extra coarse roller and for times I need a little extra "power" I use the super coarse roller.

This is a great tool to have even if you love getting pedicures it works perfectly in between salon visits to keep your feet soft and callus free. Such a simple tool but does the job perfectly! I would share before and after's but figured I should spare you all photos of my feet! I picked this product up from QVC for $30 and I would easily say it was the best 30 bucks I have ever spent. This bad boy has thousands of reviews on QVC (yes I said THOUSANDS) and has a 5 star rating. I highly suggest picking this one up.
